Missouri hotels/motels
When purchasing goods and services from Missouri hotels solely for University-related business in conformity with University travel regulations, it is possible to have Missouri and local sales taxes removed from your bill. To request tax exemption, at the time of check-in you should present:
- A copy of the Missouri Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate,
- A letter printed on University letterhead designating the travel as University business,
- Your University identification card
✓ Tip: The exemption is most likely to be granted if you’re using the University of Missouri Corporate Credit Card.
Purchases paid by employees
Purchases made by University employees for University business are exempt for Missouri vendors, or for out-of-state vendors for which the University is tax-exempt. To request tax exemption for your purchase, you should present:
- A copy of the Missouri Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate
- Your University identification card
